What does this virus do?
Arriving on your phone as an installation package for Animated Scorpion, disguised as part of the legitimate program “Own Skin”, once installed it blocks all contacts so you will not be notified of incoming calls and text messages from them.
 
SymbOS/PbBLister.A arrives as a SIS installation package for an application named “Animated Scorpion”. It affects phones running the Symbian S60 2nd edition.

After installation, it displays the following message prompting to restart the phone.

It then appears in the phone’s Menu as follows:

It uses social engineering by disguising itself as a skin or theme for the mobile device. This malware is packaged with a normal application OSAnimator from www.0wnSkin.com.

The Trojan component MServer.exe is responsible for blocking contacts from the phonebook and as a result, the infected phone user will not be notified of incoming calls and messages from these contacts.
 
 
Manual Disinfection
 
  1. Go to the device’s Application Manager and remove/uninstall applications named “Animated Scorpion”.
  2. Scan your mobile device using UMU Scan and delete all files detected as SymbOS/PbBLister.A
