What does this virus do?

Arriving on your phone as an installation package for “LockMe”, once installed, this virus locks your phone after every key press making your phone unusable.

SymbOS/KBlock.A arrives as a SIS installation package for an application named “LockMe”. It affects phones running the Symbian S60 2nd edition.

It then appears in the phone’s Menu as follows:

This malware locks the device after every key press, including pressing the power button.

Manual Disinfection
 
Once the keypad is disabled, the only option available is to turn off the phone and perform a hard reset. This will erase all data stored in the phone’s C drive (including the Phonebook, Calendar, etc.) and restore the phone to its factory settings.
 
To perform a hard reset:
 
1. Turn off the phone.
2. While holding the following buttons down, “Call (green)” + “*” + “3”, turn on the phone.
 
After reformatting, scan your mobile device’s memory card using UMU Scan and delete all files detected as SymbOS/KBlock.A.
